NEW DELHI: A passenger survived the deadly crash of a London-bound Air India passenger plane, after it rammed into a nearby doctors’ hostel shortly after taking off from the Ahmedabad airport, the city’s police commissioner said.“The police found one survivor in seat 11A. He is in the hospital undergoing treatment. Cannot say anything about the number of deaths yet.” Ahmedabad Police commissioner GS Malik told news agency ANI. “The toll may increase as the flight crashed in a residential area,” he added.In videos going viral on social media, a man in a blood-soaked white shirt is seen heavily limping and walking towards an ambulance. He is surrounded by locals who ask him about others who were on the ill-fated flight.The man was identified as Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British national. He reportedly jumped from the aircraft at the last moment, and saved his life.There were 242 people on board the aircraft – 230 passengers and 12 Air India staff (2 pilots, 10 cabin crew).The passengers included 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian.
