
The area of sowing has increased by 51,174 hectares compared to the last Kharif season, according to officials.

As per the data provided by Joint Director for Agriculture office, the taluk wise details of the sowing target are as follows: Aland taluk is set to cover highest area of sowing with 1,57,459 hectares ; while Shahabad taluk has set with sowing target area of just 15,566 hectares.
It was 1,09,590 hectares in Afzalpur taluk, followed by 98,308 hectares in Kalaburagi taluk, 96,905 hectares in Jewargi taluk. While the sowing target for Chittapur taluk is 89,125 hectares followed by Sedam taluk with 84,876 hectares, and sowing target set for Chincholi taluk is 83,500 hectares.
Sowing target set for Yadrami taluk is 66,946 hectares, Kalagi taluk with 60,739 hectares, and it was 54,045 hectares for Kamalapur taluk.
It can be noticed that the sowing area under cereals has been reduced to 11,753 hectares this year against last year’s target of 12,620 hectares; while the actual sowing target of cereals was consistently maintained to around 30,000 hectares for at least five Kharif seasons in the past.
The area under pulses has been increased to 7.10 lakh hectares compared to last year’s target of 6,69,207 hectares.
The sowing target of oil seeds was reduced to 39,796 hectares against the last year’s target of 52,749 hectares and the total target of commercial crops was expanded from last year’s 1,31,309 hectares to 1,55,500 hectares this year.
The department has increased the sowing target of red gram to 6.33 lakh hectares against the 5.93 lakh hectares in 2024-25 kharif season. For the sixth year in a row, there has been an impressive increase in the target set for red gram, which is one of the major crops of Kalaburagi district. The sowing target set for black gram was 25,000 hectares and it was 51,000 hectares for green gram.
