‘Got Emotional After Her Call’: Sonam Raghuvanshi’s Brother After She Reached Ghazipur

Sonam Raghuvanshi, the wife of Indore native Raja Raghuvanshi, is the prime suspect in his murder as cops alleged she orchestrated the crime with her lover, who hired hitmen.

As the mystery surrounding Indore native Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder in Meghalaya deepened, his wife Sonam’s brother, Govind Raghuvanshi, refrained from commenting on the case, saying he became emotional after getting her call and later informed the police.

“When she called me, I got emotional, and later informed the police. Until I meet her (Sonam), I cannot say anything. For the last 72 hours, I have been awake. It’s been 20 days since I met her,” he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Sonam Raghuvanshi is the prime suspect in her husband’s murder, with police claiming she orchestrated the crime with her lover, Raj Kushwaha, while on a honeymoon trip with Raja. She was traced to a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur main road and was taken into custody.

A total of five people, including Sonam, Kushwaha and three alleged hitmen – Akash, Vishal and Anand – have been arrested. The Madhya Pradesh Police have also deployed personnel outside Sonam’s residence in Indore.

“Sonam (Raja’s wife) lives here. So people have gathered here, and security has been deployed as a precaution. We are not aware of the details of the case. Meghalaya Police is investigating the case,” said Siyaram Singh, SHO, Banganga Indore.

A post-mortem report revealed that the deceased Raja Raghuvanshi sustained two head injuries, according to Meghalaya Special Investigation Team (SIT) Chief Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor. His decomposing body was found in a gorge near the picturesque Weisawdong Falls.

Kharkongor also told ANI that their team is about to reach Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, where they will arrest Sonam. “We will get their transit remand to bring them to Shillong. Our team is about to reach Ghazipur and will formally arrest Sonam and take her transit remand,” he said.

In her first statement after being taken into custody, Sonam claimed innocence in her husband’s murder and claimed she was abducted. She alleged that she, after abduction, was abandoned in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur, from where she called her brother.
